My Story
Why I made Not My Grain™
Between the ages of 27 and 40, I underwent 18 brain surgeries.
During that time I contracted meningitis as a complication. I lost count of the number of mornings I woke up unable to move half of my body, my face drooping on one side, smelling smoke that wasn't there, seeing colours at the edges of my vision, unable to find my words.
And always that quiet, terrifying whisper. Could this be a stroke?
But I already knew what it was. And I was a single mum. My child needed to get to school. So I got up.
Conventional options had their limits for someone with my history. So I went back to nature. I researched every botanical I could find. I studied combinations, traditions, centuries of herbal knowledge. I tested everything on myself.
Eventually I found a formula that worked.
Not My Grain™ was never meant to be a business. It was a lifeline I made for myself, something I could reach for in those moments when the world became too bright, too loud, and too much. A cooling botanical ritual that helped me come back to myself when everything in my body was pulling me under.
I named it Not My Grain because after everything, the surgeries, the meningitis, the mornings I didn't know if I could get up, I refused to let this define me. This storm is not my grain to carry.
